Come & See Event - Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

CGS Come & See Event - Hosted by St. Ambrose

St. Ambrose Academy, 31 Empire Blvd, Rochester, NY 14609

Sunday 4/28, 11-1pm  &  Tuesday 4/30, 6-7:30pm

Encounter a sacred space where the smallest children experience the deepest truths of our faith.

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is a Catholic, Montessori-method, prepared environment where children and adults encounter Jesus, the Good Shepherd, together, through hands-on experiences with Scripture and the liturgy.

A CGS Atrium is not a classroom, it is essentially a monastery for children, where the children work and pray and wonder, and the adult and child listen to God together. All the materials in the Atrium are prayerfully handmade.

(CGS Level I: ages 3-6, Level II: ages 6-9, Level III: 9-12, though only level I will be offered for Peace of Christ Faith Formation next year)

Short intro video to CGS in Rochester: https://youtu.be/YRBlA31Y9xM

At Peace of Christ parish (and throughout the Diocese of Rochester), we are praying and looking for volunteers who would be interested in becoming assistants in the Atrium, or attending formation to become catechists, or who could volunteer as material makers (we need wood workers, those interested in sewing, painters, crafters, people who can write or learn calligraphy or beautiful, legible cursive or print for creating prayer cards and Scripture booklets, etc). We are also looking for people who will commit to a regular Adoration hour for the intention of the growth of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in the Diocese of Rochester.

Come, take a silent tour of the Atrium, hold a mustard seed, build the city of Jerusalem, and wonder together about the kingdom of God.

Event to be led by Kate Dominguez, local CGS Leader (Bio Below):

"I'm Kate Dominguez, I've been listening to God with childrenin Catechesis of the Good Shepherd environments since 2018. Through CGS, I havefound healing, in Christ, for some of my own wounds. I highly recommendattending one of our CGS Level I open houses at St. Ambrose Academy andprayerfully considering being involved in this beautiful and important mission."
